10 Sep Let’s Get Fidgeting: The New Rise of Fidget Items
I think we can all remember the quick and exciting rise in 2017 of the fidget spinner. At first, I really couldn’t understand these new things, why they were so popular – that is until I got a hold of one and starting using it! Even though the classic fidget spinners have taken a nose dive in terms of their popularity, fidget items in general are not going anywhere! The interest and uptake in fidget type items has really increased in the last few years, especially as we incorporate fidget style tools into everyday items. These fidget items can help in easing anxiety, but they are also just super fun to fiddle with!
The pop style fidgets have definitely seen an increase in the last few years and continue to go strong. Fidget popper keychains are a great option, offering full colour branding, while having the satisfying silicone pops. The Pop Ball is probably my personal favourite. I have one at my desk and love to pop it around when I am feeling stressed, and honestly just for a super satisfying toy to play with when I am on the phone to occupy my hands! We also have similar silicone popping styles in these round or square options, which are a great inexpensive item perfect for a giveaway. A level up we have are these new puzzle balls that I think are so neat and also super fun but a bit more substantial, perfect for people who struggle with autism, or anxiety to help use as a sensory tool to calm and relax! Popping items can be a great item for tradeshow giveaways, or even to include in your onboarding package or for kid’s swag for back to school or any time of year!
Sensory stickers have also been a super popular item and are similar to other fidget items, but it’s more to create a calming and soothing effect when recipients run their fingers over the textured surface. The great part is they are fully customizable which means you could get really creative with the shape and design for your brand with something super cool and full colour. Or you could even include designs that encourage further calming like a mantra or breathing exercises for added impact of the product. Another great inexpensive item perfect for community giveaways or as a mailer piece!
Spinner Pens
Another great item that’s come out recently which incorporates that fidget/play aspect are these great pens that have a spinner on the top. At first when I saw them I didn’t really get it, but it’s so satisfying to spin around when you are holding the pen. I particularly like this style which is also a recycled pen so you have an eco-item that has a fidget element, is practical and useful, all rolled into one! I also think this is a great style because the pattern on the top spinner makes it super satisfying to watch while you spin it – like barber shop reels, providing visual calming as well! These spinners on pens sure are more satisfying and fun that just clicking the pen open and closed! It’s almost like today’s take on the fidget spinner, incorporating the satisfying spin into an item that you can use every day not just to play with, but get good use out of and lots of great brand exposure.
