If you asked me a few weeks ago if sharing my ideas or opinions was nerve racking, the answer would have been yes.
Then it hit me. If I choose not to speak up who am I serving? Certainly not myself or the supportive, creative and brilliant people surrounding me. I needed to let those negative stories and emotions I was harbouring go!
5-4-3-2-1 Speak!
It was one of most freeing decisions I have made. Our focus on personal development is huge, which I truly believe played a massive role in me understanding that my voice has value. Everyone’s voice has value.
We’re all human, we all get stressed or nervous, and it’s totally normal. The beautiful thing in life is that we are all different, so let’s embrace that! If your ideas don’t resonate with someone, let it go. You cannot please everyone but you can still be proud of your accomplishments and strive for growth. Worse case scenario – you fail. But don’t give up; fail your way to success! I would say about 90% of the most successful people I have heard speak have failed on multiple occasions. I use this as part of my fuel to feed the fire!
Trade the doubtful energy
One tip I have learned is to trade the doubtful energy for something positive, like the excitement of a new opportunity to grow. The key is recognizing what you are feeling; self awareness is essential.
My main objective is growth. I knew that if I never took a chance and went for it, I was never going to get where I wanted to be. I knew I had to try. And if I fail, I would try again.
Take a chance!
Take a chance! If you’re not going to do it now, you never will. Get comfortable with being uncomfortable – it is an unbelievably rewarding feeling! Free yourself from the fear of judgement – it feels AMAZING.
