Let’s get ECO!! Environmentally friendly products are a trend that started years ago but has really expanded across industries, including the promotions products industry! From everything from apparel to technology, we have incredible eco options.  But what does it actually mean when we talk about being environmentally friendly? I’ve captured a few terms here that we might see when looking at eco and environmentally friendly products and included an explanation of why and how they contribute to the eco-movement! 

rPET

RPET takes plastic that has already been created, often plastic bottles, and chops the plastic into tiny flakes. These flakes are then melted to separate the core PET ingredient inside of the bottle. This PET can then be used to make anything from a sweater to another plastic bottle. Not only is up to 50% less energy used than making PET from scratch, but by using existing bottles or other plastics already created, it prevents these plastics from ending up in a landfill. FSC 

Forest Stewardships Council is an independent, non-governmental, not for profit organization established to promote the responsible management of the world’s forests. The FSC certification guarantees that the FSC-labelled product has come from a forest and supply chain that is managed responsibly. Check out one of our FSC Certified Notebooks here!

B Corp 

B Corp Certification is a designation that a business is meeting high standards of verified performance, accountability, and transparency on factors from employee benefits and charitable giving to supply chain practices and input materials. In order to achieve certification, a company must:  Demonstrate high social and environmental performance by achieving a B Impact Assessment score of 80 or above and passing our risk review. This is a fairly rigorous process that ensures corporations are operating at their most socially and environmentally responsible ways. Wheat Straw

Wheat straw plastic is an ecofriendly material that is an environmentally friendly alternative to standard plastic. It is a premium food grade material and is completely BPA free and has FDA approval. It is made from a by-product of wheat production, namely wheat straw.
